Stam Audio have just announced that they are in the process of designing, and obtaining a patent for, a new modular format that aims to overcome some of the limitations of the 500 Series.
Named the 600 Series, the format will employ a taller 4U chassis that allows it to accommodate larger modules, as well as being fitted with higher-voltage power rails and AC heaters. The company say that it will allow them to create module versions of their popular rackmount designs, which are currently impossible to produce because of space and power restrictions. Thankfully, they’ve also announced that the format will be open source, meaning that other designers will be free to create their own modules, and it will also be compatible with all existing 500-series modules.
More information is set to follow, so keep your eye on SOS News to find out more as the format develops.
