Heritage Audio have been steadily introducing plug-in versions of their popular hardware units, and their latest release sees the HA-81A EQ become the latest unit to be treated to a virtual counterpart.
One of the company’s best-selling devices, the HA-81A EQ promises to deliver an authentic console-like sound by combining Heritage Audio’s 1073-inspired preamp with an inductor-based EQ circuit. The latest addition to the plug-in range is said to faithfully recreate the four-band design, delivering “rich harmonic depth, musical EQ curves and unmistakeable punch”. Its low and high bands can be switched between shelf or peak filters, while its two midrange bands featured a fixed peak filter design with a switchable High Q setting. The four-band EQ is joined by both low- and high-pass filters.
Heritage Audio say that the plug-in excels on a wide range of tasks, from refining vocals and guitars to shaping drums, bass, piano, strings and more, and boasts a musical character that helps to bring sources to the front of a mix while adding focus and dimension. As with the other plug-ins in the company’s range, the latest arrival is being made available for free to those who own the hardware version (or an i73 PRO interface).

HA-81A EQ is supported on PCs running Windows 10 and above, and Macs running macOS 10.15.7 or higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
