McDSP introduce FutzVerb

Announced alongside machine-based licensing for v7 plug-ins

McDSP FutzVerb reverb lo-fi saturation distortion plug-in effect

Described as “a great mangling processor”, McDSP's latest creation takes the pre-filtering and distortion features found in their FutzBox plug-in and combines them with a sub-octave generator, relocatable SIMs (Synthetic Impulse Models), a collection of lo-fi effects and more.

As with the plug-in that inspired it, FutzVerb employs McDSP’s Synthetic Impulse Models, which are capable of delivering accurate space modelling while consuming less power than convolution-based equivalents. The reverb engine offers an array of reverb and reflection types along with two early reflection stages, drift modulation and stereo-field adjustment, catering to everything from realistic room simulations to more extreme, sci-fi-style effects.

The plug-in’s SIM and Lo-Fi sections can be placed before or after the reverb, or even inside of it, while the sub-octave generator makes it possible to blend in signals at one or two octaves below the pitch of the input signal. Tonal shaping and saturation are provided by the very same filter and distortion controls that power FutzBox, and a Dynamics section allows for some built-in gating and ducking effects.

Key Features

  • Library of Synthetic Impulse Models (SIMs) that can be placed before, after or inside the reverb tank.
  • Configurable ‘futz’ effects including filtering, EQ, distortion, downsampling and bit reduction.
  • Compact and powerful reverb with several reverb types, reflection models and many more processing controls including pre-delay, modulation, damping and stereo-field adjustment.
  • Sub-octave generator for 1x and 2x pitched sounds, still sync’ed in time with original-pitch signal.
  • Reverb gating and ducking.
  • Double-precision processing.
  • Zero latency.
  • Mono and stereo algorithms.

Machine-Based Licensing

In addition to the release of FutzVerb, McDSP have announce that all of their v7 plug-ins now support machine-based licensing. Users can choose between iLok, iLok Cloud and machine-based licensing options for both perpetual licenses and subscriptions — v7 plug-ins will continue to have two activations per license.

Compatibility

FutzVerb is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or higher, and Macs running macOS 10.13 and above. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.

Pricing & Availability

FutzVerb is available now, priced at $129. It is also included in the McDSP All Access Subscription and the latest McDSP Everything Pack Bundle.
