Vienna Symphonic Library have released Vienna Ensemble Pro 8, a major update to their established networked mixing and hosting environment, alongside Vienna Ensemble Pro 8V, a new edition that adds integrated video playback for composers working to picture. The new versions focus on performance optimisation, stability and streamlined workflow across single or multi-computer setups.
Vienna Ensemble Pro 8 introduces a number of new tools for managing large templates and complex sessions. Group Edit allows mixer presets, tuning tables, and controller assignments to be synchronised across multiple Vienna Synchron Player instances, while Channel Sets enable complete sections or custom configurations to be loaded from a library in a single step. Plug-in Pooling reduces load times when switching between similar cues by reusing previously loaded plug-ins, and the new Activity Monitor provides detailed CPU and latency information at instance, channel, and plug-in level.
Stability and processing are further improved with Crash Protection, which isolates problematic third-party plug-ins during loading, and the inclusion of the full Vienna Suite Pro effects collection alongside the new Synchron Stage Reverb SO convolution reverb. Multi-core optimisation, automatic plug-in delay compensation and cross-format plug-in support remain central to the platform.
A built-in video engine is included with Vienna Ensemble Pro 8V, designed for artists composing scores to picture.
Vienna Ensemble Pro 8V adds a built-in video engine to the network workflow for the first time. Features include GPU-accelerated playback, multiple timelines with independent frame rates, streamers and markers, flexible routing, and timecode and audio offset controls for precise synchronisation. Video can be streamed over the network, including from remote machines, with minimal CPU impact.
