BOSS expand GX series: GX-1 and GX-1B

Compact guitar and bass multi-effects processors

Boss have announced the GX-1 and GX-1B, two new ultra-compact multi-effects processors that extend the GX series with two keenly priced entry-level models for guitar and bass respectively. Alongside the processors, BOSS have also introduced the FSC-10 Footswitch Cap, a new accessory designed to improve the usability of standard metal footswitches across a range of BOSS products.

The GX-1 and GX-1B share the same hardware platform and core feature set, with the only difference being the guitar- and bass-specific amp and effect content. Both units combine GX-series amp modelling and effects with a compact, portable design intended for practice, recording and live use. Users can run up to eight simultaneous effect blocks, alongside a volume pedal and noise suppressor, with adjustable effect order for flexible signal routing.

Editing and navigation are handled via a colour display and a set of hexagon-shaped buttons that visually represent different effect categories. Effects can be toggled on and off with a single press, while long presses access deeper parameter editing. Each unit ships with 99 factory presets and provides 99 user memory slots for custom sounds.

Both processors introduce Gear Suite, a new feature designed to speed up sound creation by grouping amps and effects into pre-configured setups. These professionally tuned settings can be edited and stored in user locations for quick recall. Freely assignable footswitches and an onboard expression pedal allow control over effect switching and multiple parameter assignments, with support for additional wired or wireless external controllers.

The GX-1 and GX-1B support battery, USB, or AC adaptor power, and include Bluetooth and USB connectivity for practice and recording. Integration with the BOSS Tone Studio app adds preset management, editing, built-in rhythms, and access to additional sounds via BOSS Tone Exchange.

Boss have also announced the FSC-10 Footswitch Cap, a transparent polycarbonate cap designed to make metal footswitches easier to see and press during performance. The FSC-10 allows LED indicators to remain visible and is compatible with a wide range of BOSS products, including the GX-1 and GX-1B, select compact pedals and Loop Stations. Each pack includes ten caps.
