T-Rex TwinBlaze | Audio Examples

These examples accompany my review of the T-Rex TwinBlaze pedal, published in SOS November 2025.

They are both done with the TwinBlaze feeding a 1968 ‘Silverface’ Deluxe Reverb. I’m using the Normal channel, with the Volume only on 4, so the amp itself remains substantially clean, leaving the pedal to do all the ‘heavy lifting’ in the distortion example.

Example 1

Example 1 is the pedal’s Lead setting with the Gain at halfway. The TwinBlaze channel Level is set at unity with the bypass signal, with no Boost activated. Obviously, there’s a lot more available if you want to get into full-on ‘metal’ and ‘chugg’’ territory, using more gain or a higher output level to push the amp more.

Example 2

Example 2 is the Crunch setting with the Gain at halfway, which, as you can hear, stays very clean with a single-coil neck pickup, while just adding a bit of ‘tube-y’ character. Again, the TwinBlaze channel Level is set at unity with the bypass signal, with no Boost activated.

The guitar is a stock Telecaster in both examples — bridge pickup in Example 1 and neck pickup in Example 2. Humbuckers will get you to the same place with slightly lower Gain settings, but offer more distortion and mids at higher Gain settings than single-coils can get to.
