Firmware version 1.7 now in public beta
Hot on the heels of the latest version of Live, Ableton have launched the beta version of a new firmware build that brings some new features to their Move portable groovebox (click for full SOS review).
Available now via the company’s website, the Move 1.7.0b1 update introduces the following new features and enhancements:
- Access All Parameters of Drift: Access Banks of Drift in the same way you can already for Drum Sampler in order to tweak any of the synth’s parameters: Hover a Drift Track Preset in the Device Chain, hold Shift, turn the wheel clockwise. You can tweak and automate any parameter. Parameters which are mapped to a Macro are marked with a lock icon, and cannot not be tweaked, as in Live
- Lower Brightness Levels: It’s now possible to reduce the instrument’s brightness by pressing Shift + Step 2, scrolling down to the Brightness option and choosing from new level options. Ableton have pointed out that the Move’s Control Live mode does not yet support the two new brightness levels, although another update that will resolve the issue is currently in development.
- Core Library update:
- Two new Acoustic Drum Racks created by Tamuz.
- A Drift Default preset without Macro mappings in the Templates category
Ableton Note
As well as the update for the Move, Ableton have recently added one of Live’s popular virtual instruments to their Note iOS App. As of version 1.5, Note users now have access to Drift
