Acustica's Secret is out now

Channel strip which emulates an iconic console

Acustica Audio Secret

Acustica Audio have announced the release of Secret, the sixth plug-in in their Boutique Collection, available in VST, VST3, AAX and AU formats. Secret is inspired by a rare, hand-built American console that became the iconic centrepiece of Crystal Sound Studios in Hollywood during the 1970s.

Secret’s all-in-one channel strip features three main sections. The preamp/saturation module includes six distinct preamps and high and low-pass filters. The intuitive 3-band passive-style EQ allows for sweepable frequency control. Finally, the dynamic compressor section includes three switchable styles - PWM, FET and VCA - providing flexibility and precision.

Acustica’s analogue approach is combined with their Hyper-3 technology for maximum sound quality with minimal CPU usage. The new anti-aliasing algorithm delivers a cleaner, more accurate sound, while the Alive mode introduces subtle analogue imperfections. Secret offers multiple listening modes, namely Δ (Delta), LR (Left/Right), M (Mid), and S (Side). The EQ and compressor each have their own graphical displays which subtly mirror the design aesthetic of the original unit. Secret also includes a range of factory presets, designed to streamline the mixing process, along with a resizable GUI.

The console at Crystal Sound Studios that inspired Secret was famously used on Stevie Wonder’s Talking Book, Innervisions and Songs in the Key of Life, as well as recordings by artists such as Barbra Streisand, Jimi Hendrix, The Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye and The Doors.
