Aim Audio ship first studio microphones from Berlin factory

Innovative designs and an integrated shock mount system

Aim Audio, a new pro-audio brand based in Berlin, have begun shipping their first range of studio microphones. We first encountered Aim Audio at NAMM 2024, and are excited to now have our hands on the first models in preparation for an upcoming review. The company, founded by a team with extensive global experience in professional audio, have returned microphone production to Germany with two models: the multi-pattern INSPIRE and the cardioid ESSENCE, alongside the ORBIT shock mount.

Both microphones incorporate unique features including Aim’s patented switchable Transformer/Electronic output stage, custom-wound toroidal transformers and hand-assembled capsules tested in Berlin. The INSPIRE model adds reversible capsule direction, five switchable polar patterns and an included ORBIT shock mount, SENTRY pop filter and custom hard case. The ESSENCE model features a 1-inch gold-sputtered Mylar capsule, switchable output stages, integrated peak-level metering and optional ORBIT mounting.

The ORBIT shock mount itself is designed with a 190-degree adjustable clamp and proprietary absorption lyres, aiming to improve performance and usability compared to traditional mounts. Aim Audio’s approach has been to avoid recreating classic microphone designs, instead focusing on both innovation and ergonomics, with impressive features such as tactile backlit controls and integrated peak meters, along with thoughtfully designed aesthetics.

Aim Audio co-founder Bruce Davidson: Since we previewed the brand at NAMM 2024, the entire Aim Audio team has been refining and improving our unique designs, leveraging extensive feedback from our global community of studio professionals and musicians alike. We now have made better mics that exceeded our initial goals, including a complete redesign of the suspension system in ORBIT, to create tools that will make a difference in users’ everyday recording experiences and enable more creators to produce the best recordings they can.
