Shortly after the arrival of two new subwoofers in ATC’s pro-audio range, the company have announced the launch of the SCM105AC Pro and SCM105AiWC Pro, a pair of three-way monitors designed to take on centre-channel duties in surround and immersive systems.
Based on the hugely popular SCM110A Pro, both of the new models feature a three-way design that employs a pair of nine-inch SL low-frequency drivers, a three-inch Superdome midrange driver and a one-inch S-Spec tweeter, all of which are designed and manufactured entirely in-house by ATC. A discrete MOSFET A/B amplifier delivers 200, 100 and 50 W to the low-frequency, midrange and high-frequency units respectively, while a fourth-order Linkwitz-Riley electronic crossover with all-pass filters promises to deliver uncompromising phase coherence and audio clarity.
Both units are identical in terms of specification, the only difference being that the SCM105AC Pro is designed to operate as a freestanding unit, while the SCM105AiWC Pro is fitted with a square-edge front baffle and a recessed rear-mounted input panel that makes the design suitable for in-wall (soffit) mounting. The SCM105AiWC Pro is driven by the R1-350 Pro, a 6U rackmountable amplifier that can be mounted remotely.
Thanks to shared technology and components, the two new centre-channel monitors are ideally matched to the likes of the SCM50A Pro, SCM100A Pro, SCM110A Pro and SCM150A Pro monitors. Although their primary application is as a centre channel in surround and immersive rigs, both new products can be used as left/right stereo pairs or surround channels should the cabinet format be the best solution for a given room or project.
