In celebration of their 100th anniversary, beyerdynamic have announced the availability of the DT 770 PRO X Limited Edition closed-back headphones. Originally revealed at the NAMM Show 2024, the new model retains all of the design features that made the original so popular, but with upgraded drivers and a detachable cable.
The new model comes fitted with the company’s STELLAR.45 drivers, which boast a frequency response of 5Hz – 40kHz, and promise to maintain low distortion values even at high listening levels. An impedance of 48Ω also means that aren’t too demanding and can be driven by a wide range of playback devices. In response to user feedback, beyerdynamic have fitted the DT 770 PRO X Limited Edition with a detachable cable. The supplied cable is 3m long, and attached securely to the headphones using a mini-XLR connector, and terminates in a 3.5mm mini-jack cable which can be used with quarter-inch outputs by fitting an included screw-on adapter.
The new cans also promise to be the most comfortable DT 770 to date, with memory foam ensuring the headband adapts to the shape of the user’s head. Helpfully, both the headband and ear cushions can be replaced should they show signs of wear over time. Along with the upgraded performance and comfort, the new model also sports a silver emblem to mark the company’s 100th anniversary.
“We wanted to commemorate our 100-year milestone by creating headphones that pay homage to our past, and empower studio professionals of the future to work however and wherever their inspiration strikes. By combining the beloved features of the DT770 PRO with the latest driver technology of the DT 700 PRO X, whether you’re in a bustling studio or recording at home, the DT 770 PRO X Limited Edition delivers an unparalleled performance.” - Andreas Rapp, CEO of beyerdynamic
