Blue Microphones have announced the Blue Custom Shop and introduced its first offering, Bottle Limited Edition. Available in several striking finishes, including metallic, glossy hot rod colours, and textured hammer-tone and matte options, each Bottle Limited Edition is hand-built in California, right down to the custom silver-wound transformer.
“As the first offering from the new Blue Custom Shop, Bottle Limited Edition allows artists to own a signature microphone that will truly become the centerpiece of their studio,” said John Maier, CEO of Blue.
With its impressive size and nostalgic resemblance to the earliest European tube microphones, Bottle features a fully discrete Class-A tube circuit powered by a hand-selected EF86 pentode vacuum tube in triode mode for distinctive warmth and saturation, say its makers. Every Bottle comes with Blue’s signature B6 large-diaphragm dual-backplate cardioid capsule, which is designed to deliver "larger than life sound with enhanced lows and extended high frequency response".
The Bottle Limited Edition Mic Locker is also available for recordists and studios that wish to take advantage of the creative power of Bottle’s interchangeable mic capsules. The system includes the Custom Shop Bottle Limited Edition, plus the B0, B6, B7, and B8 Bottle Caps housed in a custom-designed SKB hard-shell case.
The Custom Shop Bottle Limited Edition costs $4999.99 and the Custom Shop Bottle Mic Locker Limited Edition is $6999.99. Both are now available in limited quantities at participating retailers.
