The latest arrival to Melda Production’s Analog Empire collection has just arrived, expanding the series with an array of synthesised brass and wind instruments. Following on from the well-received Pads & Strings and Plucks & Keys instalments, Analog Empire: Brass & Winds includes over 30 multi-sampled synth sounds, and features a dual-layer design that allows users to seamlessly blend between different sample sets in search of new and interesting sounds.
Each of the instrument’s layers is equipped with an identical set of controls: Pitch, Drift, Unison, Tone and Spread, which make it possible to create everything from focused lead sounds to wide, detuned pads and textures. a multi-mode resonant filter follows, and is joined by Amp and Filter ADSR envelopes. There’s a whole host of built-in effects, too, including reverb and delay, a set of modulation processors (tremolo, flanger and chorus) and a vintage-inspired lo-fi tape effect. a Master section then houses high- and low-pass filters, a three-band EQ, Saturate, Maximize and Width parameters and a simple one-knob compressor.
Analog Empire: Brass & Winds boasts MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) support, and so offers a wealth of expressive control possibilities to those with compatible controllers.
