Cableguys’ ShaperBox contains nine individual processing modules which users can combine to create a huge variety of custom tempo-synced creative effects. The company have recently announced the release of Builds & Risers, a new expansion which contains 86 new transition effects, as well as a v3.3.1 update which introduces a range of improvements and enhancements.
Builds & Risers
The Builds & Risers expansion has been created by professional sound designers InsideInfo, Cyclick and Andi Vax working alongside Cableguys’ in-house team, and is dedicated to transition effects intended to emphasise drops and enhance existing parts in an arrangement.
Builds are designed to be applied to existing sounds, helping to create soaring build-ups and interesting effects, whilst Risers are intended for use on their own track, where they can be used to generate a range of tempo-synced ‘whooshes’, swelling noise textures and reverse cymbal hits. The company say that the advantage of the expansion when compared to a static sample pack, is that users are able to edit the curves of each preset to tailor is precisely to their existing parts.
Alongside the expansion, Cableguys have also released the latest update to ShaperBox. The plug-in now offers improved CPU performance thanks to optimised General and Complex Audio Trigger algorithms, and presets are now pre-selected in the Browser when a project is reopened, allowing users to continue browsing from where they left off.
Some operational improvements are included, too, with the Pan/Hass slider in PanShaper offering improved visual feedback, and Oscilloscope waveforms remaining on screen until an LFO is triggered again, making it easier to edit curves to suit the incoming signal.
Triplet grid is now a single menu option, and support for triplets in general has been improved with main beats and bars now always highlighted for Straight timings, and Dotted timings always highlighting the three main subdivisions. Additionally, true musical triplets are now possible in all of these timings. Lastly, a number of minor bugs have also been fixed.
ShaperBox 3.3.1 is supported on PCs running Windows 7 and above, and Macs running macOS 10.13 and higher. VST2, VST3, AAX and AU plug-in versions are available.
