Veteran German audio manufacturers, Dynacord, have two new offerings in their D-Lite series — the D8 two-way, full-range box and the SUB 112 subwoofer. Dynacord say, “Enormous sound pressure levels, a robust construction and unobtrusive styling are among the most noteworthy features of the two products.”
The D8 offers a compact, light, robust box with a power handling of 250W/1000W (rated/peak), and achieves a maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of 124dB across the entire range from 65Hz to 20kHz. The enclosure, which is made from a particularly resilient material, according to Dynacord, houses a low-distortion DND8200-8 neodymium chassis for the bass and mid-range, a constant-directivity HF horn (nominal coverage pattern 90 x 90 degrees) and an Electro-Voice DH3 driver. Living up to the ‘Lite’ tag, it weight just under nine kilos.
Despite its compact dimensions and lightweight construction, the SUB 12 will deliver up to 124dB SPL. The vented, direct-radiating enclosure is armed with a high-power Dynacord DND12S400 neodymium woofer and features a conical reflex design. The consequences are negligible airflow loss, low wind noise, very little distortion and the provision of an impressively mighty and substantial low-bass foundation, the makers claim.
Thanks to the integration of a passive filter, Dynacord continue, the SUB 112 “commends itself as a direct bass extension used in parallel to suitably equipped full-range cabinets (eg. the Dynacord D8)”. No prices yet, sadly.
