HEDD Audio have just announced the launch of a new studio monitor family that shares many of the design features of their flagship models, but in a more affordable package. The A‑CORE Series comprises a pair of two-way designs that employ the company’s Air Motion Transformer tweeter and custom-made woofers, but omit the digital processing found in their MK2 relatives.
The models in HEDD’s existing MK2 range all offer extensive control and processing thanks to a powerful onboard DSP system. By contrast, the new A-CORE offerings are an entirely analogue design. The company say that they developed the new range for those who value ease of use, and don’t need or want the added complication (and cost) that comes with a more complex monitoring system. Line-level signals are accepted via XLR, TRS or RCA connectors, and some tonal fine-tuning is provided by low- and high-shelf EQ controls, and that’s it! The focus on build quality is unchanged, though, and all of the new models are assembled at HEDD Audio’s facility in Berlin.

Both the TYPE 05 and 07 A-CORE models employ the same premium components and designs found in the HEDD Audio’s flagship MK2 monitor line and Tower Mains system, including:
- Klaus Heinz’s hand-built Air Motion Transformer tweeter, which is said to deliver ultra-fast transients and lifelike detail.
- Custom-made Honeycomb-compound woofers that offer tight, articulate mids and an unusually deep, controlled low end.
- A heavy-duty MDF cabinet construction that unlocks the full potential of the drivers, even at high volumes.
- High-efficiency Class D amplifiers.

The TYPE 05 A-CORE will be shipping in May 2025, priced at £525 / €599 each, and the TYPE 07 A-CORE will follow in June 2025, priced at £625 / €699 each. GBP prices include VAT.
