HLabs have announced the upcoming launch of the EQ169+, a new rackmount version of their Studer-inspired EQ design that features an extended set of parameters and fully stepped controls.
The EQ169 500-series module has proven to be a popular addition to the HLabs range, offering a semi-parametric EQ based on the Studer 169 console circuitry, and the new version retains the same design but with a selection of new features and enhancements. There’s an additional high-pass filter along with two presence bands that each feature 11 centre frequency options, while the high- and low-shelf bands can be set at 20 or 35 kHz and 20 or 60 Hz respectively.
All of the units controls are fully stepped thanks to 11-position rotary switches, and there’s also a choice of two gain ranges: Standard, which offers ±12dB of adjustment on the presence bands and ±15dB on the shelves; and Mastering, which sets the presence bands’ range to ±4dB and the shelves’ range to ±5dB.
As with all of HLabs’ products, the EQ169+ will be entirely handcrafted at the company’s facility in France. Those looking to work in stereo will be pleased to hear that units will be gain-matched to within ±0.1dB of each other.
