Klevgrand’s latest virtual instrument has just arrived, delivering a collection of 10 electric piano models that promise to offer unmatched responsiveness, exceptional sounds and great playability. El Piano draws on Klevgrand’s decades of experience in developing award-winning instruments and effects plug-ins, and has been built around a new proprietary algorithm and sound engine that offer a flexible and intuitive playing experience.
There are 10 piano models included in Elpiano, spanning a wide tonal range that covers everything from “silky-smooth, dreamy chords to punchy funk grooves”. Every model is said to respond with depth and realism, and all of the included sounds have been carefully crafted to ensure they deliver the best-sounding results possible. Everything is housed in a simple, intuitive interface that puts all of the key parameters within easy reach, but aims to help users stay focused on their music rather than the instrument itself.
Included Models
Here’s a breakdown of the piano models included in Elpiano, and what Klevgrand have to say about them:
- Skyline: A clean, responsive electric piano that you can really dig into and get a powerful response. Perfectly tuned and finely adjusted.
- Gotown: An alternative to the Skyline model that offers a slightly ‘grittier’ take.
- Precious: Like Gotown, but with a softer, gentler tone and response.
- Silky Way: Like Skyline but with less ‘bite’. Pairs perfectly with both phaser and chorus for smooth ballad sounds.
- Whirl: Loads of bark, loads of funk.
- Unicorny: A true ‘barn find’ — as if you’ve discovered an old electric piano in the attic of a long-lost relative. A little worn, a little rough around the edges, but with a heart of gold.
- Picky: Bright and percussive with a short release. Not overly polished, but perfect for nostalgic little melodies that give an indie-pop, lo-fi vibe.
- Arbor: Slightly harp-like with a very short release. Doesn’t really sound like a piano — or perhaps like a heavily modified one. An instrument that’s fun to play, especially with lots of delay and reverb.
- Digilog FM: An FM piano that covers the sounds of 80s hits and early video games.
- Unsound: Broken pickups and faulty electronics — needs a service! The tines are a bit crazy, too. There's a whole lot of rock ’n’ roll in this one.
In addition to its healthy selection of instrument sounds, Elpiano also comes equipped with some built-in cabinet modelling and effects processors. There are five cabinet models to choose from, with a Drive control allowing users to introduce some amp-style saturation, while a vintage-style EQ offers some helpful tonal shaping. There’s no shortage of creative effects, either — Reverb, Room, Delay, Chorus, Phaser, Tremolo and Vibrato modules are present, each with their own dedicated parameters.
“With 20 years of development expertise and nearly 30 years of playing piano on stage and in studios, we’ve channelled our love for Rhodes and Wurlitzer pianos into a plug-in that is incredibly easy to use, exceptionally responsive, and delivers a rich, authentic sound that inspires pure joy while playing.” - Tobias Engström, CEO and Co-Founder, Klevgrand
