LANG Electronics have announced the launch of two new products that offer a modern take on some . Created alonside new owners Heritage Audio, the P.LANE Type 436 draws inspiration from Altec’s iconic 436C compressor, while the SILVERR 47 aims to recreate the sound of the REDD 47 preamps used in EMI’s consoles at Abbey Road Studios throughout the 1960s.
P.LANE Type 436
The first of the new releases, the P.LANE Type 436, is an all-valve vari-mu compressor based on a modified version of the Altec 436C, a model that’s often praised for its flattering sound character and ability to control dynamic transients without negatively impacting the signal’s high-frequency response. Rather than settle for a straight recreation of the original design, the company have taken the opportunity to incorporate features found in different iterations and modified examples.

SILVERR 47
The second arrival comes in the form of the SILVERR 47, a dual-channel mic preamp thats takes its inspiration from one of the most praised preamps of all time: the REDD 47. Both channels feature a NOS 6AU6 pentode valve at the input and a JJ E88CC at the output stage, and employ custom-made input and output transformers designed by Heritage Audio. Once again, the design has picked up some additional features, including a new NFB (No Feedback) gain position which significantly increases the amount of harmonic distortion present in the signal, introducing a distinct sound character and allowing the unit to function as a tone-shaping tool.
