Native Instruments have just launched Deep Freq, a collection of effects for their Kore 2 and Kore Player sample engines. Based on algorithms found in Absynth, Guitar Rig and Reaktor, its purpose is to “fundamentally alter and reshape” sounds, so don’t expect subtlety! There are 150 multi-effects patches (you can see some example signal-flow diagrams on NI’s web site), comprising all sorts of complex processors including resonators, filters, frequency shifters, and “pseudo-resynthesizers”, which could prove ideal for sound designers (or anyone who fancies rendering their audio files completely unrecognisable, for that matter!).
Indeed, some of the patch names hint at Deep Freq’s outlandish nature (De-facto Chimp and Buttbeard are two fine examples!), but Native Instruments stress that, despite its complexity, Deep Freq is still easy to use thanks to its integration into Kore’s intuitive interface.
Available to download now from the NI web site, the Deep Freq effects bundle costs 69 Euros.
