Owners of the Messenger will be pleased to hear that Moog have just announced the launch of a new dedicated software editor and preset manager. Simply named Messenger Preset Editor, the application is available for Windows and macOS systems, and offer full remote control of the synth’s parameters, along with a comprehensive preset management system.
The new editor fully replicates the instrument’s top panel, offering control over all of its synthesis parameters. It syncs with the hardware via USB, allowing users to shape their sounds on either the hardware or software, or a mixture of both at the same time, with all of the changes updated between the two in real time. As you might expect, the editor also provides direct access to the various parameters that can be found in the synth’s menus, as well as a dedicated sequencer view that provides graphical editing of the Messenger’s 64-step sequencer.
Also present is a powerful librarian system which Moog say transforms preset management for the screenless instrument. Users can organise, categorise and search their entire sound library using favourites, tags and custom notes, and options are provided for creating backups of individual presets or complete libraries containing up to 256 sounds. Import and export capabilities make it simple to share presets with other users, whilst touring musicians will appreciate the ability to easily backup and restore their complete sound libraries.
Moog have also revealed that a VST/AU plug-in version will be arriving in December 2025, which will open up the possibility of automating the synth’s parameters from within a DAW session.

Compatibility
Moog Messenger Preset Editor is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or later, and Macs running macOS 14 and above. Messenger users will need to make sure their instrument’s firmware is updated to FW 1.0.13.
