Music Expo SF 2016 attracts sell-out crowd

San Francisco event, in association with SOS, a huge success

Arturia's MatrixBrute was one of many new products available for attendees to get hands-on with on the Exhibition Floor. Music Expo SF (in association with Sound On Sound) put on its huge one day music industry event for the third year last Saturday at SAE Expression College in Emeryville. A packed program of artist speakers, workshops, an exhibitor floor and heaps of networking opportunities, attracted over 600 attendees. The enthusiasm was palpable as people from every profession in the industry and music lovers crammed into the sessions, demoed the latest and best gear and exchanged stories and contacts.

'Achieving Gender Equality in the Music Industry' panel with Sarah Sexton, Alyssa Pereira, Claire George and Terri Winston. Students, producers, artists, engineers and enthusiasts took in the numerous workshops on offer, such as Jai Josefs' 'Songwriting Blueprint' and Brian Gibbs’s 'Getting off the Ground'.  Attendees raved about John Paterno's 'Recording and Overdubbing' and the UA Artist Sessions with Vance Powell. Music Expo SF organisers were also excited to add a panel about the hot topic of gender diversity in the music industry and an exclusive artist interview with Ziek McCarter from the band Con Brio. So much knowledge, so many to meet, so little time! As attendee Ramon Rodriguez said on Facebook, he had “never felt more inspired by an event”.

Remix Contest winner Evv’n’flo Skyped in from Portland. To bring the jam-packed day to a close, the winner of this year's Music Expo SF Remix Contest was announced live.  Winning the amazing top prize of a global release of his Con Brio 'No Limits' Remix and a publishing deal was Evv’n’flo — a producer, guitarist, MC and band member with the band Dirty Revival, featuring Elton Gray. Evv’n’flo hails from Portland and as he was unable to attend in person, Music Expo brought the event to him via Skype and even made sure he got a photo with the judges! Second and third prizes were awarded respectively to local musician, producer and DF Isaac Weiser of San Francisco and Japanese Bassline and Grime producer, Vvot.

Stay tuned for more to come on Music Expo SF 2017.
