Native Instruments launch Jacob Collier Audience Choir

Free instrument captures live audience vocals

Native Instruments Jacob Collier Audience Choir choral vocal virtual instrument sample library

Native Instruments have teamed up with six-time Grammy winner Jacob Collier to create a unique virtual instrument that captures the sound of a live audience singing together. The aptly named Jacob Collier Audience Choir features recordings from 22 live shows and comes loaded with multiple articulations, harmonies and space options. Best of all, it is available to everyone as a free download!

Jacob is renowned for his innovative live performances, and throughout his tours has taken crowd participation to the extreme, conducting the entire audience as a choir to create unique, improvised moments. Thanks to the collaboration with Native Instruments, the experience has been captured in the form of a virtual instrument, giving users a chance to add a chorus of real-life voices to any production.

A wide range of articulations have been captured, with a Vowel Morph Pad in the instrument’s GUI making it possible to blend between the core sounds — a collection of pre-designed presets are included, and users are free to record their own movements to create custom, evolving patches. Along with the vocal sounds, the instrument also includes a number of percussive elements including stomps, claps and snaps recorded in each venue.

Sounds can be customised using Dynamics, Timbre, Attack and Release parameters, and there are also a number of built-in effects including delay and reverb that allow further processing to be applied within the instrument. A Chord Generator makes it possible to instantly create harmonies, and a set of pre-built triads can be triggered via a Triad Blend function.

Jacob Collier Audience Choir runs in Native Instruments’ free Kontakt Player or the full Kontakt (versions 7.8 or higher), which are supported on PCs running Windows 10 and above, and Macs running macOS 11 or higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, along with standalone applications.

Jacob Collier Audience Choir is available now as a free download via Native Access 2.
