New Firewire interface from Presonus

The Presonus Firepod

The new Firepod from Presonus is a 24-bit/96kHz Firewire recording interface, with eight phantom-powered mic preamps, MIDI and S/PDIF I/O. It also comes packaged with Steinberg’s Cubase SE 48-track, 24-bit/96kHz recording software.
The Firepod, which is compatible with Windows XP and Mac OS X, features eight mic/line combi jacks on its front panel, along with individual input gain controls, a headphone output, main and headphone volume controls and a mix control, allowing the user to mix two-channel audio playback from the computer with the direct signal from the eight analogue inputs.
Phantom power is separately switchable for input 1-4 and 5-8. The Firepod is also equipped with eight balanced outputs and two balanced main outputs, all on TRS jack connectors. A second Firewire port means that multiple Firepods can be daisy-chained together.
The Firepod should be available in April, priced £599.

Presonus have also announced a change of UK distributor. All future product, tech support, and sales enquiries should now be addressed to Cornish company Hand In Hand (see contact details below).
