Nordic Audio Labs have revealed a new version of their original large-diaphragm capacitor mic, the NU-100K. The latest iteration of the multi-pattern mic is available now, and has been upgraded with the company’s proprietary FloFET circuitry, a move which is said to deliver a warmer, valve-like sound.
The upgraded NU-100K is still based around Nordic Audio Labs’ head designer and CEO Martin Kantola’s D100K capsule design, retaining the excellent off-axis response and smooth-sounding top end for which the original was praised. It has been voiced to work well on any source, and promises to deliver large-sounding, extremely detailed and clear recordings. Along with its cardioid and omni modes, the new model also boasts a figure-8 pattern that has been tuned to deliver a ribbon-like tone. The company also say that as with its predecessor, the new model responds well to EQ.
The NU-100K is hand-made in Finland and comes with a 10-year warranty.
