Paper Stone Instruments present Creative Junk

New Kontakt instrument samples unusual objects

Nottingham-based Paper Stone Instruments, in collaboration with samplism.com, return with a Kontakt instrument that they’re calling their “most ambitious, versatile and comprehensive” to date: Creative Junk.

The instrument is a percussion suite designed to spark inspiration and it is filled with hits created from everyday objects of all shapes and sizes. Creative Junk is over 1GB in size, and features 100 multi-sampled objects, each with up to seven velocity layers. Among the objects are industrial heaters, bouncing balls, bottles, jugs, and filing cabinets.

Each sound has been recorded using three mic positions, allowing the user to incorporate the sound of the cinematic live room of the Paper Stone studio, or have a closer sound.

“When I’m writing I’m always looking for inspirational sounds, I want sounds that haven’t been created by conventional instruments,” says Sam Brown of Paper Stone Studios, “This propels me to seek out unusual or abstract objects to manipulate and sample. I wanted to put together a collection of these objects and then sample them with multiple mic positions, and give them an interface that would allow each sound to be tuned filtered and sculpted independently of one another.”

Creative Junk features eight hit collections plus 12 unique stretch-tuned chromatic junk instruments and 3 bonus concert tuned versions of the main NKIs.

Creative Junk requires a full version of Native Instruments Kontakt 4.2.3 or later. It is available for an introductory price of £34.99 throughout May with a full RRP or £49.99.
