PMC’s booth at NAMM 2026 was occupied by not one new monitor design, but an all-new Main Monitor series comprising four all-new models. Marking the company’s 35th anniversary, the launch represents the first complete reinvention of PMC’s main monitoring systems in more than three decades, and promises to deliver the most substantial advancement since the range was last updated ten years ago.
Designed from the ground up and built entirely in-house, the latest designs are said to advance every aspect of monitor performance — driver technology, system architecture and software control — delivering exceptional clarity, lower distortion and significantly increased headroom for modern music and film studios, including those working with spatial and immersive audio.
At the foundation of the system is PMC’s latest generation of large-format bass drivers. Designed specifically for the company’s ATL bass-loading system, the new drivers feature heavily vented motor assemblies, dual-spider suspensions and triple-wound voice coils that offer up to 36mm of linear excursion, tripling the figures achieved by the previous generation and offering highly controlled, natural-sounding low-frequency reproduction even at the highest output levels.
Midrange duties are taken care of by an all-new hand-built PMC75v3 soft-dome driver delivers the midrange, and incorporate a long, damped acoustic chamber that’s been designed to prevent rear-wave reflections from colouring the output. The result is reduced distortion and improved transient accuracy, which the company say offers an exceptionally open and t’ruthful’ midrange. Further enhancement is provided by PMC’s proprietary n-compass dual-profile waveguide, which ensures smooth, wide dispersion through the crossover region and helps to preserve a stable soundstage across a large listening area.
High-frequency reproduction is carried out by PMC’s hand-built 34mm soft-dome HF driver. With its low-distortion motor assembly, matched dome and shallow waveguide, it promises to deliver extended, fatigue-free listening and a natural in-room response.
Every model in the Main Monitor Series is powered and controlled through PMC’s latest DSP and amplifier platform, which centres around the updated SoundAlign2 software environment and a new master36 system controller. Using any standard web browser, engineers can configure individual monitors or entire systems for room integration, EQ, delay, polarity, crossover optimisation and preset management, with up to 32 loudspeakers managed within a single installation.
The master36 is a compact 3U unit that combines 32-bit DSP crossover processing with high-efficiency amplification, as well as providing flexible analogue and digital inputs, full network control and six Class-D amplifiers capable of delivering a total of 3600W. For larger installations and dual-cabinet configurations, the power20 adds a state-of-the-art 2000W Class-D amplifier in a matching 3U chassis.
The Main Monitor Series launches with four models: the PMC10, PMC12, PMC15 and PMC10-4. All feature a fully active three-way design and can be used as standalone full-range monitors or expanded with matching XBD cabinets, which add a dedicated low-frequency enclosure for increased bass headroom and system scalability.
There are also matching standalone subs that use the same driver complement and cabinets. This modular approach enables engineers to tailor systems for a wide range of room sizes and formats, from compact single-tower installations to high-power XBD configurations and large multichannel arrays. Thanks to consistent dispersion characteristics and shared voicing across the range, models can be combined seamlessly in multi-channel surround and immersive systems.
“Launching an entirely new Main Monitor family in our 35th anniversary year is both a celebration and a statement. By rethinking every part of the system and designing the entire platform in-house, we’ve been able to create the next generation of main monitors with a new level of clarity, control and capability that reflect everything we’ve learned over the last 35 years.” - Oliver Thomas, Co-CEO, PMC
