PreSonus have launched the NSB 32.16, an AVB-networked stage box equipped with 32 microphone and line-level inputs and 16 line-level outputs. The unit also features a built-in two-port AVB switch which allows units to be daisy-chained, expanding the I/O of the company’s StudioLive Series III consoles to accommodate up to 64 input channels.
Each of the 32 inputs are provided on XLR/TRS combo sockets, which feed PreSonus’ digitally controlled Class-A XMAX preamps. Input trim and phantom power can be controlled remotely either directly from a StudioLive Series III console, or by using the company’s free UC Surface control software, which is available for Windows, macOS, iPadOS and Android platforms. The unit’s 16 analogue line-level outputs, along with a pair of stereo AES3 digital outputs, are all present on XLR connectors.
As with the existing stage boxes in the NSB range, the NSB 32.16 is capable of providing inputs for multiple StudioLive Series III digital consoles on an AVB network, making it possible to route audio from a stage to FOH, monitoring, and broadcast consoles simultaneously, for example. When being used in this configuration, the NSB’s on-board gain compensation allows each operator to make their own local gain adjustments that are relative to the level set on the master console.
The unit is housed in a rugged 3U 19-inch rack-mountable steel chassis which has been designed to withstand the demands of touring, and is equipped with adjustable rack ears which allow for both flush or recessed fitting, as well as providing the option to install the unit with the I/O available at the front or rear of a rack.
