Reason Studios have just released an update for their DAW that delivers a range of bug fixes and improvements, as well as refining the software’s looks and allowing the Browser to be used as a side panel.
One of the headline features of the last major version was the redesigned Browser system, which introduced a powerful tagging and categorisation system designed to help users organise their sounds and sessions. Since the launch, though, many users have contacted Reason Studios with feedback on how the system could be improved.
The company have listened to the feedback, and with the launch of Reason 13.3, users can now switch between Window and Side Panel Browser views with a single click — it’s also possible to save either one as the default option via the Preferences window. That window itself has been redesigned, too, and now sports a cleaner and more intuitive layout that better matches the rest of the software. Visual tweaks have also been made to other parts of the DAW, including dialog boxes, the on-screen keyboard and a number of other interface elements.
While the update tackles a whole host of bugs and enhances many existing features, there are two particular changes that Reason Studios are keen to highlight. The first, is that the waveforms in the sequencer now look significantly better thanks to improved drawing code, meaning that zooming now looks smoother and doesn’t cause jagged edges. Secondly, the company have updated the behaviour of the Mixer, Rack and Sequencer buttons to better match their F5, F6 and F7 keyboard shortcuts. A single click will now maximise that view, while shift-clicking adds it to the current layout.
A full list of the bug fixes and improvements can be found in the official release notes.
