VSL have just announced the release of the forth instalment in their Synchron Solo Strings series. Complementing the existing Solo Violin 1, Viola and Cello offerings, Synchron Solo Violin 2 captures the unique tonal character and musical identity of the second violin, played by the Vienna Synchron Orchestra’s concertmaster Damir Oraščanin. Those who already own all three of the previous Synchron Solo libraries will be pleased to hear that they can download this latest offering for free throughout its introductory offer period.
The sampling sessions for the latest library took place in the large Stage a of Vienna Synchron Stage, with Damir Oraščanin expertly performing a wide range of articulations. Short notes include a variety of spiccatos, staccatos, détachés, ricochet and saltando, while long notes come with a selection of vibrato styles, different attacks and releases and various slides. Legato variants include normal, agile, slurred, portamento and lyrical styles, and techniques such as sforzato, several crescendos and diminuendos, tremolos, trills, harmonics, pizzicatos and col legno offer a whole host of styles, tonal colours and dynamic nuances.
