Softube and Weiss Engineering have teamed up to create the Weiss Exciter, a new plug-in designed to add brightness, detail and vibrancy to mixes and masters without the harshness often associated with traditional exciters or excessive EQ. Swiss manufacturers Weiss Engineering are known in the industry for very high-quality digital audio processors that are intended mainly for the professional mastering and high-end hi-fi markets.
Designed for professional mix and mastering engineers, Weiss Exciter uses a proprietary algorithm developed in collaboration between the two companies, combining Softube’s DSP expertise and Weiss’s precise digital audio. The makers claim this plug-in to be "the world’s first transparent exciter".
Unlike conventional exciters or treble boosts, which can introduce distortion or imbalance, the Weiss Exciter features adaptive non-linearities, mastering-focused harmonic shaping, phase-compensated filters and four mathematically defined harmonic modes. These tools work together to generate musical overtones that feel embedded in the mix.
Weiss Exciter is available now and joins the Flow Mastering Suite and Weiss Complete Collection 2 as part of Softube’s ongoing collaboration with Weiss Engineering.
