Obsolete Machines is the latest release in Spitfire Audio’s LABS series, a collection of sample libraries and virtual instruments that are free for anyone to download. This latest offering contains a range of sounds captured from experimental music machines owned by Sam Battle (AKA Look Mum No Computer).
Recorded at Sam’s museum in Kent, UK, the library’s sounds have been created using a collection of custom hand-built electronic instruments such as a Gameboy Megamachine, Sega MegaDrive Synth, and an epic 1000-oscillator Megadrone.
An i1 control within the plug-in provides control over an Expression (volume) parameter, whilst i2 offers a combined Unison, Warp and Dynamics control. Low- or high-pass filtering is provided by an O1 control, and finally, O2 offers users access to a built-in reverb effect.
We spoke to Sam Battle for our SOS Electronic Music Podcast in October 2021, click here to take a listen.
