Yorkville Sound have announced the release of the YXL18SP, a new active subwoofer which they say offers the best ratio of performance, power and value available in their current product range.
The cabinet is constructed from 12mm ply finished with a latex paint, and loaded with an 18-inch driver powered by a built-in Class-D amplifier capable of delivering 500W (1000W peak). Designed to stand up to the rigours of live performances, the driver is protected by a metal grille, and bar handles are fitted on either side of the cabinet for ease of transport.
A recessed panel on the rear of the unit houses a pair of inputs, which are provided on XLR/TRS combo sockets, whilst two additional XLR connectors provide link outputs to pass the incoming signal on to a pair of full-range speakers. A built-in level control is provided, and a three-position selector switch allows users to choose between three different EQ settings. A DSP-powered limiter system is also present to provide protection against signal overloads.
