2-channel recorder for the iPod
Belkin launched themselves into the audio industry a year ago with their Tune Studio, a four-channel audio recorder for the iPod. Now, they've announced a new device, which is also geared towards those who want to record on to the iPod.
The GoStudio is a portable device that lets you record on the move. Simply slide your iPod into the docking bay, hit record, and the GoStudio will save 16-bit/44.1kHz WAV files directly on to the iPod's hard drive. Once here, files can be transferred to a computer using iTunes, and then into a DAW for editing or processing.
Controls on the GoStudio include the centrally located main input level knob, sensitivity switches for each input, a monitor volume knob, and source-selection switches. A built-in speaker allows you to monitor the playback without the need for headphones, although these can be plugged into the rear panel for more accurate monitoring.
The GoStudio has a pair of small condenser mics built in, which can be directed forwards or backwards, but it also has a pair of XLR/jack inputs for connecting external microphones or line-level input signals.
It's compatible with any second- or third-generation iPod Nano, or fifth-generation or above iPod Classic. For more information, check out the video below, or check out Belkin's web site.
