The third member of Techivation’s AI plug-in range has arrived, and is described as an intelligent attack enhancer that’s been designed to make any sound stand out and cut through a busy mix. AI-Impactor analyses the incoming audio signal and uses a range of machine learning-based processed to shape its attack and achieve maximum impact.
The plug-in combines a soft clipper, an envelope shaper and a dynamic saturation processor with a look-ahead function, and also features a linear-phase tilt EQ. A detection system identifies and isolates the transients in the incoming audio signal, and is capable of applying each process independently as needed. All of the plug-in’s internal parameters are adaptive, and so are capable of changing continuously in reaction to the incoming signal, even after the initial learning process has been completed.
Although there’s plenty going on behind the scenes, AI-Impactor presents users with just a handful of controls. There’s a Learn button that begins the analysis process, a master Impact control, output level and mix controls, the option to work in either left/right stereo or Mid-Sides modes, and that’s it! Input and output level meters offer a visual indication of the signal level throughout the plug-in, and there’s a Diff button that makes it possible to audition the difference signal and hear exactly what the processor is doing.
Compatibility
AI-Impactor is supported on PCs running Windows 7 or higher, and Macs running macOS 10.15 and above. VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.

AI-Clarity is available now, and will be priced at $45 until 31 August 2024, when it will increase to its full cost of $90.
