In 2006 Jerome Schmitt opened his mastering studio in order to provide an affordable but high-end mastering service for independent artists. Air Mastering was born. Subsequently renamed The Airlab, the studio has a large independent-based clientele and has established an excellent reputation.
Jerome has a long list of credits to his name, including Alt-J, Coldcut, Mr Scruff, Cinematic Orchestra, Amon Tobin, Bad Manners, Roots Manuva. He’s mastered work for major and indie labels alike (Sony, Big Dada, Ninja Tune, Extreme Music) and also worked on covermount compilations for Mojo, Q and Kerrang.
His studio is fully-equipped with top of the range equipment too, with Prism Sound ADA-8XR converters, PMC IB1S monitors, and processors form Maselec, CraneSong, Avalon and Thermionic Culture. The centrepiece of Jerome's studio is his custom Crookwood mastering console, which is particularly notable for its flexible monitor section.
