Voice Of God in API 500 format

Bass harmonics for 'API lunchbox' users
Looking to lend a little more authority to your recordings? Then the VOG (or Voice Of God) could be for you! It was designed to be used for simulating the proximity effect (the bass boost that occurs when a vocalist is close to the mic), but VOG’s manufacturers, Little Labs, soon realised that the unit could be a turn-to tool for bass guitar and kick drum mixing. The VOG comes in the popular 500-series API ‘lunchbox’format, which means you’ll need to mount it in a suitable case before use.

The controls enable the user to sweep a peak resonance control from 20 to 300 Hz, below which frequency a sharp 24dB per octave slope filters out any unwanted rumble. This could be particularly useful for separating kick and bass parts when mixing bass-heavy genres. The VOG costs around £325 from Unity Audio.
