Spitfire Audio have announced the launch of a new sample library that captures the signature sounds of The Newton Brothers, the celebrated duo behind the scores for ‘The Haunting of Hill House’, ‘Midnight Mass’ and ‘Doctor Sleep’. Named Tenebra, the library includes a selection of 100 individually recorded sounds, and is said to invite creators into a “sonic world of tension, dread and haunted beauty”.

The included sound sources range from “haunting bells and ominous drones” to “imaginative orchestral mutations and modular synth textures”, all of which have been crafted in The Newton Brothers’ studio using a selection of vintage and modern gear. Powered by Spitfire Audio’s acclaimed SOLAR engine, the library offers a wealth of dynamic manipulation courtesy of an intuitive gate sequencer, which makes it possible to create new, hybrid sounds blending and morphing between different sources in real time.

Compatibility

Tenebra runs in Spitfire’s own plug-in, which is supported on PCs running Windows 10 and above, and Macs running macOS 11 and higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.

Pricing & Availability

Tenebra is available now, and is being offered at an introductory price of $159£119 / €143 until 24 July 2025, when it will increase to its full price of $199£149 / €179. GBP prices include VAT.
