Rode have teamed up with Vortex Communications to bring a handy new feature to users of their RodeCaster interfaces. Available via a free firmware update for both the RodeCaster Pro II and RodeCaster Duo, CallMe provides direct, low-latency audio connections over Wi-Fi or Ethernet, allowing users to connect to remote guests either from other RodeCaster units or via a web browser.
The company say that the new feature delivers high-fidelity audio that significantly improves upon the quality offered by standard VoIP services or typical phone calls, eliminating the dreaded ‘telephone sound’ and making the incoming audio suitable for professional broadcast, podcasting and music use. Once connected, the incoming audio can be assigned to a RodeCaster’s fader in the same way as the interface’s mic and USB inputs.
