The latest addition to Techivation’s M-Series plug-in collection has been designed to provide users with a simple way of introducing some additional brightness and presence to a mix without causing harshness and distortion. M-Exciter is said to act as a natural-sounding musical extension of users’ audio, and go beyond what is possible with simple saturation or EQ processing.
The plug-in works by generating new overtones for signals arriving at its input. Although the new harmonic content is based on the full-range signal, M-Exciter features a selection of controls that make it possible to apply them to specific frequency ranges. The new harmonics are spectrally blended with the original audio, with the plug-in perfectly preserving phase relationships to ensure that transients retain their original punch and impact.
Thanks to the spectral suppression technology that Techivation developed for their popular M-Clarity and M-De-Esser processors, the latest offering is said to ensure that the additional high-frequency energy doesn’t result in the mix becoming harsh or overbearing.
