Vienna Symphonic Library (VSL) have announced the release of Studio Jazz Drums, a new addition to their Studio Series recorded at the company’s Silent Stage facility. The library captures the sound of a customised 1960s Rogers drum kit, paired with a Paiste 2002 signature snare prototype and vintage Avedis Zildjian cymbals.
Powered by the Vienna Synchron Player, Studio Jazz Drums offers a wide palette of articulations performed with sticks, brushes and mallets. Playing zones can be explored via mod wheel control, while techniques include rim shots, flams, rolls, press rolls, cross-stick variations and an extensive range of brush swishes. Particular attention has been paid to the ride cymbal, with dynamic responses to tempo, velocity and repeated strikes.
Mixer presets range from natural to jazz club and even rock-inspired settings, with convolution and algorithmic reverbs transporting the dry Silent Stage recordings into different acoustic spaces. The library also includes MIDI loops for sticks and brushes, providing quick access to realistic and authentic grooves.
Pricing & Availability
Studio Jazz Drums is available now at an introductory price of €69 (regular price €89). An upgrade path from the discontinued VI Series Vienna Jazz Drums is also available.
