Zero-G have announced the release of Epic Brass, a new Kontakt library built entirely from synthesised brass. Designed by sound designer Ergo Kukke, the collection aims to deliver a bold, aggressive sonic character aimed squarely at cinematic scoring, trailers, sci-fi, industrial and action themed projects.
Epic Brass features 16 multi-sampled instruments (13 velocity-sensitive), weighing in at 14 GB. Every patch has been built from scratch without using traditional brass samples, instead harnessing years of synthesis experimentation. The result is a library that relies on the power of thunderous sustains, ferocious staccatos and massive layering, said to be able to produce sounds far larger than acoustic brass could achieve.
Alongside the instruments, the library includes 60 convolution reverbs and a choice of accessing layers individually via .nki files or combined in a single “mega mix” patch. The sound palette spans “Most Epic” patches, orchestral and heroic brass sections, cinematic movie brass, synth brass, and experimental textures such as flutter brass and hip-hop-infused variations.
Epic Brass requires the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt 7.10.7 or higher.
