Excite Audio have announced the launch of Evolve Velvet, the latest entry in its Evolve series of sample-based synthesizers. Drawing inspiration from the smooth, lush character of vintage keyboards and strings, the instrument is designed to deliver a palette of “cozy, timeless tones” for producers working across genres, but suggested as best-suited to lo-fi house and psychedelic pop.
Evolve Velvet combines more than 250 sound sources, including felt pianos, electric keys, string ensembles and classic synths from the 70s and 80s. Users can blend up to four layers per patch, morph sounds in real time using the XY pad, and shape results with macro controls named Soften, Warmth, Sway and Haze. The synth also offers dual filters, a three-slot rearrangeable effects chain, drag-and-drop modulation, and more than 250 factory presets. Sample import is supported for building custom patches.
Evolve Velvet is available in VST, AU, and AAX formats for macOS and Windows, exclusively via Plugin Boutique.
