Artcore, the platform for independent artists (whose launch we covered in September last year), has rolled out a new feature allowing UK and EU artists and labels to sell physical media and merchandise directly on the platform, with support for other regions coming soon. This update brings an easy-to-use system for managing inventory, adding images and descriptions, setting shipping options and custom variations. Integration with Stripe payments also ensures quick, secure payouts.
For VAT-registered sellers, Artcore collects and submits VAT on their behalf. For EU orders the platform provides an IOSS number and collects VAT to prevent hidden extra fees for buyers. The standard commission for merch sales is set at 15%.
New Features
The whole site has undergone a design update, now offering the ability for artists to customise banners on their pages. A new video clip generator allows users to create 15-second clips for Instagram, and artists can now sell full digital discographies at a discount. Artwork and metadata are now embedded in mp3 and flac files, with full flac support. Artcore has also introduced site-wide promotional sales, with an opt-out option for users who prefer to retain control over pricing.
Exclusive Offer for SOS Readers!
Sound On Sound readers can use the promo code SOSMERCH before 15th October to reduce Artcore’s commission rate to 7.5% for a year on physical media and merchandise sales, and 10% for digital. To qualify, users must publish a release by 15th October.
