This is a unique course only offered by CM, the leading Music training organisation in the UK and is a great opportunity for people looking for new ways to earn money from their music career.

CM is now accepting applications for The Arts and Music Leader Training course, which starts on 2nd September 2013.

The course aims to provide a sound foundation in teaching and learning within a community arts setting, and explores a variety of subject areas within teaching and learning, including different teaching methods, styles of learning, repertoire and curriculum models.

The programme is aimed at those who want to develop a career in community music and arts leadership. Successful completion of the course offers you the City and Guilds 7303 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Industry (PTLLS) qualification.

CM has trained community music leaders for over 20 years, and the current course is now in its Seventh year. The course attracts people from all areas of the arts and music industry. Previous students have included teachers, professional musicians, singers, producers, promoters and other business owners all wanting new skills and an understanding of teaching in this area.

The course also brings together a diverse group of students to share experiences and learn together. It is a great way to develop the skills you need to teach with confidence and understanding.

Ex students are now working in schools, colleges and arts and music organisations. Some have even gone on to set up their own companies. A high percentage of people who have passed the AMLT are now in employment and students who have passed said that their teaching confidence has increased dramatically.

Sarah Villarus; Singer and previous student

“I want to set up my own classes and sessions to do things that I’m passionate about. I wanted a proper qualification to put on my CV, to have on my website and to show that I am serious about teaching.

On the AMLT the tuition has been fantastic, really good really varied. I have seen lots of different teaching styles, Marina the tutor has been fantastic, and her wealth of knowledge has been amazing and really valuable.

I would definitely recommend it to other people, it’s really good to do this kind of teaching course with other musicians”
