Audeze have announced the release of the CRBN2, their latest electrostatic headphone which features the company's new SLAM (Symmetric Linear Acoustic Modulator) technology. This innovation promises enhanced bass response and transparency.
CRBN2 is Audeze’s second-generation carbon-nanotube electrostatic driver engineered to deliver precise sound reproduction. The introduction of SLAM technology is said to optimise air pressure across the driver, resulting in improved low-frequency performance without distortion. This is reported to provide realistic bass response and a more expansive soundstage along with a frequency response of 10Hz - 40kHz.
Weighing 480 grams, the CRBN2 features premium leather earpads and a suspension headband for extended wearability. The electrostatic design, free from heavy magnets, ensures long-term comfort while delivering high-fidelity sound. CRBN2 requires an amplifier with an electrostatic output using a 580VDC bias, commonly known as "Stax Pro Bias."
The CRBN2’s development has its origins in a collaboration with Professor Mark S. Cohen and the UCLA School of Medicine, where Audeze created non-magnetic headphones for use in MRI machines.
