The latest addition to the Brainworx line-up, bx_aura, promises to set a new standard for create reverb effects, and comes equipped with a choice of five algorithms that will appeal to everyone from music producers seeking realistic-sounding spaces to sound designers in search of more dramatic effects.
The plug-in’s selection of algorithms have been carefully crafted to provide users with a wide range of effects that aim to cover everything from room simulation to physics-defying sound effects. The modes available are as follows:
- Space - Designed for expansive and ambient soundscapes.
- Room - Creates natural and intimate room reflections.
- Echoes - Offers rhythmic delay elements with a reverb tail.
- Soft - Smooth and subtle reverb effects that are said to be great for pads.
- Reverse - A unique-sounding mode that provides one-of-a-kind backward reverb effects.
All of the parameters you’d expect to see on a reverb plug-in — pre-delay, size, diffusion, decay, width and so on — are all present, alongside switchable pre- and post-reverb filters that offer some tonal shaping, but bx_aura also includes an array of controls dedicated to crafting more creative effects. For starters, there’s a modulation setting designed for introducing some movement, as well as a Freeze button for creating infinite reverb effects, and the bottom of the GUI houses dedicated Drive and Gate sections.
The former offers three saturation modes that provide everything from subtle warmth to all-out distortion, and includes an amount control along with the option of processing the pre- or post-reverb signal. The latter then allows users to create gated reverbs and ducking effects from within the plug-in itself, and boasts a comprehensive selection of dynamics parameters as well as the ability to accept an external side-chain signal.
