Emergence Audio unveil Double Bass Textures

Create evolving pads, textures & soundscapes

Emergence Audio Double Bass Textures pad soundscape effects sample library virtual instrument plug-in

The latest sample library from Emergence Audio pairs a collection of double bass samples with a set of synth-style programming options, allowing users to create a range of evolving pads, soundscapes, textures and drones that promise to push the limits of traditional sound design.

Double Bass Textures has been created using a technique which the company refer to as Non-Static Sampling. Developed by their founder Michael Vignola, the technology adds subtle and unique variations to each sampled note rather than relying on static, predetermined samples, an approach which aims to preserve the natural complexity of live instruments and promises to allow for more engaging and dynamic-sounding performances.

A total of 16 articulations have been captured, with keen sound designers able to craft their patches using over 100 built-in parameters. Two samples can be layered together, with each layer benefiting from its own dedicated envelope and filter sections, whilst a central section allows users to blend between the two samples.

A comprehensive set of modulation capabilities are on offer, and all of the instrument’s parameters can also be controlled via DAW automation, or from a hardware controller using a MIDI Learn function. A wide range of built-in effects are also provided, with delay, chorus, phaser, rotator, and convolution reverbs joined by a distortion and saturation processors, a lo-fi effect and a stereo imager.

The library is said to be well-suited to composers and sound designers working in film, TV and video games, as well as producers of a wide range of modern musical genres. A collection of audio demos are available on the Emergence Audio website.

Compatibility

Double Bass Textures runs in Native Instruments’ Kontakt or Kontakt Player version 6.7 or later, which is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or 11, and Macs running macOS 10.14 and above. VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, and there is also a standalone version.

The library can be installed via Native Access, and requires 5.18GB of disk space. NKS support is also included, allowing for advanced integration with Native Instruments’ range of hardware controllers.

Pricing & Availability

Double Bass Textures is available now, and is currently (15 June 2023) being offered for an introductory price of $59, reduced from its full cost of $99.
