Emergence Audio’s latest release takes the techniques that helped create their Infinite Upright instrument, and applies them to the guitar. Unsurprisingly named Infinite Guitar, the new addition to the company’s line-up combines thousands of samples with the company’s Infinite Motion Engine and Non-Static Sampling, and promises to offer a unique alternative to traditional riff-based guitar libraries.
The company say that while traditional guitar libraries focus on performance, riffs and rhythm, their approach with Infinite Guitar turned instead towards “the breath, the bloom, the slow unraveling of tone”. The project was recorded entirely at Emergence Audio’s own studio, with all of the included samples transformed using Non-Static Sampling — a technique developed by company founder Michael Vignola that allows each played note to subtly transform as it sustains. Combined with the instrument’s Infinite Motion Engine, the method provides users with a wealth of control over how Infinite Guitar’s patches change and evolve over time.
Those who are familiar with Emergence Audio’s other offerings will instantly feel at home with the GUI. As with others in the Infinite and Textures family, Infinite Guitar’s main view features a dedicated set of controls for the two layers of sound that make up each patch, along with a central section that houses a large blend control and a range of parameters for the instrument’s LFO. Switching to the FX page reveals a wealth of onboard processing options that include over 50 convolution reverbs along with a delay, chorus, phaser, rotator, stereo imager, distortion, lo-fi and tape saturation effects.

“With Infinite Guitar we turned to what lives between phrases, the breath, the bloom, the slow unraveling of tone. Coupled with our Infinite Motion Engine and Non-Static Sampling, the instrument doesn’t feel like its looping, it evolves.” - Michael Vignola, Founder & Soundcrafter, Emergence Audio
