True to their name, Gamechanger Audio are well known for finding new and interesting approaches to audio equipment design, and the new effects pedals they previewed at NAMM 24 are no exception. Now named the AUTO Series, the line-up comprises delay, reverb and chorus effects that draw inspiration from the modular synth world, and come equipped with top-panel patchbays that provide a wealth of routing possibilities.
The three pedals each feature an AUTO section, which houses a pair of signal analysis engines that apply modulation to the effects parameters based on the musical nuances of the incoming signal. They’re capable of tracking dynamics and pitch, allowing users to animate the unit’s controls based on playing level, picking style, note or tone changes, and so so — the delay and chorus also feature a tempo-tracking mode, allowing users to control tempo with their strumming speed. The section can be switched on and off independently of the effects section, and each of the four effects parameters are equipped with a knob that makes it possible to set the amount of automation applied on a per-parameter basis.
The company say that the pedals are extremely precise and have been tailored for all styles of guitar playing, but are not just limited to use on string instruments. They boast a stereo signal path and are fitted with a three-way switch that allows the input to accept instrument, line-level or Eurorack-level signals, meaning they can be used on a wide variety of instruments. The patchbays utilise 3.5mm sockets, and each pedal comes supplied with a set of six patch cables.
The video below not only shows the Auto Series in action, it also features a robot arm setting up some patches and operating the pedals! What’s not to like?
